Kinmen
(Chinese: 金門; literally "Golden Door" or "Golden
Gate") is a small archipelago of several islands administered
by the Republic of China (ROC) government on Taiwan: Greater Quemoy
(大金門), Lesser Quemoy (小金門), and some islets.
Administratively,
it is Kinmen County of Fujian (Fuchien) province. The county is
claimed as part of Fujian's Quanzhou Prefecture by the People's
Republic of China. Some islands of other counties, such as Wuciou,
were transferred to the jurisdiction of Kinmen County by the ROC
government following its retreat to Taiwan. Matsu is the other set
of islands on the Fujian coast controlled by the ROC.
Many
of the inhabitants speak the Southern Min language. Quemoy is geographically
very near Xiamen (also known as Amoy).

All
those townships on Greater Quemoy Island start their names with
Jin ("gold"). Lieyu Township encompasses the entire Lesser
Quemoy Island, and is closest to Xiamen. Wuciou Township is comprised
of Greater Ciou Islet (大坵) and Lesser Ciou Islet (小坵).
Jincheng
and Jinsha are the largest of the six counties. Altogether, there
are 37 Quemoy villages, Three of which -- all in Jhen (鎮,
Zhen) -- are Li-village (里), the rest are Cun-villages
(村).

Education
builds hopes for the people, and the school fills with life and
energy is the cornerstone of supporting this great endeavor. We
have been educating a group of children who are lively, diligent,
and lovable, therefore higher teaching quality standards, children
respect, human-touch management , people skill, and learning skills
are those essential elements, if we hope to create an ideal 「Jinsha
person」, who can think and capable of finding solutions to every
problem they encounter.
The
ideal goal we have been trying to achieve is to develop an ethical
and humanized campus environment where students can enjoy their
studies and be able to grow to their full potential.
Our
passion for education, and our responsibility and honor in the big
family's "Jinsha Team" gives us a collaborative effort to relentlessly
pursue and strive for fine educations for every student; because
"Education for Everybody" is our vision.

Opening
ceremony for new school building.

Old
school building established Aug 1970.

New
school building established Dec 2004.
|
Contributed
by the ancestral shrine of the Changs, Jinsha elementary school
was founded in 1913. In 1915, the first elementary school of the
4th section was established. Due to the funds raised by the people
around the town in 1933, Jinsha School was built and named then.
(No.1 Chengkung Rd, Jinsha Town at present) In 1937, the school
was closed during WWII.
Reopening in 1946, Jinsha School was renamed Kinmen County Jinsha
Central School and was then merged with private Wen- pu elementary
school in 1949. With a kindergarten added-on in 1965, the school
was renamed Kinmen County Jinsha Elementary School in 1968, and
has been used since.
Contributing
to the lack of natural condition, the school could not be enlarged
and was thus supported by the Kinmen County Government’s grant aid
and moved to a new school site. Also, because of the land and funds
donated by warmhearted folks, the new school building was established
in August, 1970. The school has transferred to the present address
(NO.117, Houputou, Jinsha Town, Kimen County) since then.
